Located about 35 miles east of St. Louis is the peaceful,
charming community of Highland, IL. As the oldest and largest Swiss
settlement in Illinois, Highland at one point was home to more Swiss immigrants than any other U.S. city. The flavor of Highland is
without question Swiss. Swiss motifs can be found on businesses
and homes throughout the town, including City Hall
styled after a Swiss Chalet.
